Biographical Note
The club was originally founded as the Women's Book Club of Davidson by Mrs. W. J. Martin in 1899. The name was changed to Booklovers' Club in 1911. Members of this group helped organize two other book discussion groups, the Thursday Club in 1909 and the Thelemites in 1921. There is a report on the club's first meeting the Davidson College Magazine, January 1899, p. 206.

Scope and Content
The collection consists of a copy of the Constitution and By-laws, undated; minutes, 1901-1907, 1924-1969; membership lists, 1916-1976; correspondence, 1944-1994, histories, 1923, 1958-1960; programs, 1907-1996; clippings, 1948; and photographs.
